If you sleep hot: which layers actually matter
Read the mattress from cover to core so “cooling” marketing is easier to filter.
Cover and quilting
Removable covers, knits, and breathable blends mainly affect surface heat and moisture. Treat single “cooling fiber” claims as one variable, not the whole story.
Comfort layers
Open-cell foams, latex, or thinner memory-foam layers often trap less heat than a single slab of dense memory foam—look at thickness and ordering in the cutaway.
Support core
Coil layers usually move more air than thick, closed polyfoam bases; hybrids often collect fewer heat complaints than all-foam builds at similar price points.
